Emmy Awards 2016
This year’s Emmy Awards may not have been the most watched in recent years but they did manage to keep my attention much longer than I thought they would. It was far more politically-charged than past shows have been (then again there is less than 50 days until the presidential election), and it seemed like there was a little more variety among the nominees and winners.
For me some of the highlights were:
Aziz Ansari and Alan Yang winning Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the Master of None episode “Parents” (I love that they are bringing a fresh perspective to tv and in this particular episode made Aziz’s parents tv stars).
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver winning for Outstanding Variety Talk Series (This made me super happy because I’m hooked on the mix of news stories with sarcastic comments and all too real observations of the world we live in).
The Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel skit about how much of a “loser” Jimmy Kimmel is for not winning the award for Outstanding Variety Talk Series (What’s there not to like about this combo…there is a reason their skits have been popular for years now).
